Update: Daniel Carey was arrested and remanded Tuesday afternoon, police said.
ANCHORAGE – Police are asking for the public’s help finding a man wanted for second-degree sexual abuse of a minor.
Daniel Carey, 32, was a justice officer at McLaughlin Youth Center, according to a statement from police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro.
Carey met a girl who had been staying at McLaughlin, Castro said, and developed a sexual relationship with girl after the she left the youth center.
Carey is no longer working at McLaughlin and police have been investigating the case since November, police said, when the girl’s guardians found out about the relationship and contacted authorities. An arrest warrant for him was issued Friday, Jan. 24.
Police said they haven’t been able to locate or contact Carey. They are asking anyone with information on Carey or his whereabouts to call police at 786-8900.
