Screams led to the discovery of a female victim being held against her will in a Ketchikan home Monday, according to local police.
Police arrived at the home the screams were reportedly coming from, located on the 500 block of Pine Street. Both the interior and exterior doors of the house were locked and barricaded, forcing police to break into the home.
Inside, police found the victim and 23-year-old Elliot Koenig. The victim was suffering from “significant” injuries to her head, neck and face, according to a statement from Ketchikan police:
“[The injuries] include significant swelling and bruising, cuts in and around her mouth, and a swollen lip. She was also observed to have ligature marks on her wrists, ankles and neck. She also had significant bruising on both arms and both legs.”
Police said the victim was allegedly tied up and restrained multiple times in a 24-hour period.
“During this time, he struck her on her head and about her body with the legs of a broken wooden chair, he struck and shocked her with an electronic Taser, punched her with his fists, and strangled her with his hands to the point of unconsciousness,” police stated.
Police arrested Koenig and charged him with kidnapping, first-, second- and fourth-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence. He was transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center.
