The Anchorage Police Department says someone was killed in a shooting at a Holiday gas station on Abbott Road Wednesday night.
The shooting was reported around 9 p.m., according to a statement from police. When police arrived at the scene, they found a person dead from an apparent gunshot wound in the parking lot of the South Anchorage gas station.
Witness Hannah Bartels told KTVA via social media she was inside when she heard the gunshot and looked outside to see someone waving a gun. Floyd Hall, another witness who was outside when the shooting occurred, stated in an email he saw the male victim walking toward another male “when he was shot.”
Police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said all parties involved, including any potential suspects and witnesses, were at the scene when police arrived. During a late-Wednesday interview with Castro, she said police were still gathering evidence and had not yet charged anyone.
APD on the scene said the shooter called them to report he shot someone. He’s been taken in for questioning, but was not under arrest at that time.
According to Castro, police believe there are no outstanding suspects.
