ANCHORAGE – Vandalism of property belonging to the Pebble Partnership is under investigation, authorities said Monday.
On Feb. 3, Alaska State Troopers in King Salmon learned that 10 plastic fish totes, valued at $1,000 each, were purposefully set on fire at the incinerator site in Iliamna Feb. 1, according to a troopers report.
The totes were used to store and move material to an incinerator, according to Pebble Partnership officials, and were 4-by-4-by-3 feet.
One tote had some ash in it while the others were empty, said AST spokeswoman Megan Peters.
All 10 totes, located inside a chain-link enclosure, appeared to be set on fire outside the fence, troopers said. Some wiring at the site was damaged from heat from the fire.
An investigation is ongoing. Troopers are asking anyone with information to call the offices in King Salmon or Iliamna.
