The last five months have been painful for Rose Mullenax. She is the mother of Selena Mullenax, who was killed alongside 20-year-old Foreignne “Onie” Aubert-Morisette in January at Point Woronzof.
No arrests have been made in the case and now, the 19-year-old’s mother has become frustrated with police.
“All I know is that they’re working on it, which is not enough for me,” Rose Mullenax said.
She is asking for the public’s help to find the person responsible.
“If you know anything, please come forward. I miss my daughter,” Rose Mullenax explained.
She described her daughter as someone with a friendly personality and an “intoxicating” smile.
“Even when she was hurting, that smile never disappeared,” she said.
Rose added that her daughter had a lot to look forward to. She was working on her GED, applying to jobs and taking care of her 2-year-old child.
“She had goals,” said Rose.
Anchorage Police Department Sgt. Slav Markieicz said he understands the frustration of victims’ families and that the department is making progress on the case. However, he said the details of that progress can not be publicly disclosed.
“I just want to assure you that we are working hard, that we are not giving up and that we are confident that ultimately, the suspect or suspects will face justice,” said Markiwicz.
There have been nine homicide cases and 11 homicide victims in Anchorage so far this year, according to APD. Two cases remain unsolved: the Point Woronzof murders and the killing of Marcus Cosby, Jr. in Eagle River.
