Police say a woman is dead and a man is in the hospital in critical condition following a reported shooting in Mountain View Saturday night.

The shooting was first reported on the 3700 block of Richmond Avenue before 10:30 p.m., according to a statement from police spokeswoman Renee Oistad. When police arrived at the scene of the shooting, they found a woman dead in an apartment with an apparent gunshot wound to her torso.

Police also found a man with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital, and as of 11 a.m., was listed in critical condition, according to Oistad.

“While no arrests have been made at this time, police believe they have made contact with all involved parties and there are no outstanding suspects,” Oistad wrote.

Around the time of the shooting, neighbor Mai Vang said she heard two loud noises, which she initially thought came from inside her own apartment. When she checked outside, she saw her neighbor’s apartment door open.

“The door was open, and I saw the female laying down right next to the door and the male was kinda in the back, and their son was just crying next to the mom, saying, ‘Mom wake up, come on, call 911,’” she told KTVA.

Vang said she called 911 and initially thought both adults were dead, but they then showed signs of life. She said paramedics took only the man away in an ambulance shortly after that.

Screen Shot 2016-07-03 at 11.34.02 AMA few hours later, police knocked on her door. Vang let them in and police showed her a bullet hole in her kitchen wall. They found a bullet under her refrigerator, she said.

“The bullet that shot through the kitchen was really low, so we didn’t even realize that it was there,” Vang said.

Vang said no one in her family was hurt by the bullet.

“I’ve never seen anything like this before, it shocked me really bad,” Vang said.

This is a developing story, please check back for updates as they become available.
