The Anchorage Police Department says a man was transported to a local hospital early Saturday morning with multiple gunshot wounds. Police are now looking for the man they say allegedly shot the victim.

Police arrived at a Hoyt Street trailer home just after midnight to investigate a 911 call from a man who claimed to have been shot, according to a statement from APD. They found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and transported him to a nearby hospital.

Police said the victim is expected to survive his injuries. Another adult and two children were in the home when the shooting occurred, but were uninjured.

The shooting allegedly occurred after a verbal argument between the victim and an acquaintance, 28-year-old Khiosomphone Sophasath, police stated. After firing multiple shots, Sophasath fled the home on foot.

Police have filed charges of first-degree assault and misconduct involving a weapon in this case. A no-bail warrant has also been obtained for Sophasath.

Anyone with information on Sophasath’s whereabouts is asked to call police at 907-786-8900, or Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP (7867).
