The mother of a 4-year-old girl, who went missing in Spenard on Wednesday, is charged with child neglect, according to Anchorage Police Department spokesperson Jennifer Castro.
According to Castro, the child’s mother was intoxicated and had passed out. A family friend saw it and took the girl to her home. The friend texted the child’s mother, but she never checked her phone and saw the message, Castro said.
At 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, Anchorage police issued a community Nixle alert, asking for help locating Alyiah Touyon, who had last been seen at her home on the 3000 block of Outta Place around 2 p.m.
Police originally believed Touyon had left her home on foot.
Almost an hour after the first Nixle, police reported the child was at a nearby residence and had returned home safely.
