ANCHORAGE – A 41-year-old Anchorage man has been convicted of first-degree attempted sexual assault in connection with an attack in Kincaid Park more than two years ago.
Prosecutors said Jeremy Christian Bienek was convicted by an Anchorage jury Feb. 6. According to a statement from the Alaska Department of Law, Bienek had taken his 18-year-old victim to the West Anchorage park for a “hike” the evening of August 15, 2011. When they arrived in a secluded, unmarked and heavily wooded section of the park, Bienek used duct tape to bind the woman’s wrists to a tree and cover her mouth.
But prosecutors said the she fought back and escaped, then immediately told a family friend about the attack.
Bienek’s sentencing is scheduled for April 23, and prosecutors said he faces up to 35 years in prison.
