A grand jury approved murder charges for a second suspect in the death of Michael Mitchell. Mitchell was found shot to death on Campbell Airstrip Road on Aug. 22.
On Thursday, 18-year-old Kutay Bangout was indicted for Mitchell’s death, and now police say 19-year-old Riek William Gat is considered an accomplice. Police said in a Monday release that they obtained an arrest warrant for Gat after the grand jury returned a true bill for first- and second-degree murder charges Thursday.
Gat’s whereabouts are unknown, police said in their statement.
He is 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 144 pounds, according to police spokeswoman Renee Oistad.
Anyone with information on Gat’s whereabouts is asked to call Anchorage police at 907-786-8900. An anonymous tip can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling 907-561-7867.
