A man was hospitalized early Sunday morning after a downtown club shooting, for which he is being charged, Anchorage police say.

In a statement, police said the shooting was first reported jut before 2:15 a.m. near the entrance to the Playhouse Club, located at 333 W Fourth Ave.

Officers arrived within three minutes, according to the police statement. They found a man, identified as 30-year-old Andrew Abellanosa, suffering gunshot wounds to his legs and bleeding profusely.

“Officers applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding and medics transported the male to the hospital,” police wrote. “He is in stable condition.”

Police said their investigation led them to the conclusion that Abellanosa had brandished a gun during an argument at the club, and at some point, “the gun discharged twice,” injuring Abellanosa.

The Playhouse Club issued a statement about the incident on its Facebook page:

Abellanosa faces multiple charges, including three counts of third-degree assault, and one count each of fifth-degree misconduct involving a weapon and reckless endangerment, online court records show. Police stated he will be taken to the Anchorage Correctional Complex and booked on those charges as soon as he is released from the hospital.
