In a series of voicemail messages, a 52-year-old Wasilla man threatened the Planned Parenthood clinic in Anchorage, according to federal court documents.
In a criminal complaint filed last week, investigators wrote that Robert Joseph Klima left three voice messages with the nonprofit on Nov. 7.
“During the first message, Klima stated that if Planned Parenthood performed an abortion for another individual, he (Klima) would ‘treat you just as a murderer who murdered my child,’” the complaint states.
In the second message, Klima gave the clinic his telephone number. He advised the organization to call him back to “avoid any kind of unpleasantries,” investigators wrote in the court document.
In the final message, he claimed an “RPG,” also known as a rocket-propelled grenade, was pointed at the facility on Lake Otis Parkway. He advised Planned Parenthood not to open their doors the following day.
The FBI obtained the recordings on Nov. 8. The complaint states, a Facebook search showed law enforcement Klima had been in a relationship with the person he did not want to have an abortion.
Klima could face up to 10 years in prison, plus a $250,000 fine, for using a telephone to make a threat to damage and destroy a building by means of an explosive, according to the Alaska U.S. Attorney’s office.
Klima was indicted by a federal grand jury this week.
