The Anchorage Police Department is investigating a shooting that left at least one person injured.
The shooting was reported at 7:30 p.m. on West 30th Avenue, according to APD spokeswoman Jennifer Castro. She said a male victim was transported to the hospital for emergency surgery following the shooting. He is currently listed in critical condition.
“Meanwhile, two other victims with gunshot wounds showed up to the hospital and it was confirmed that they had been at the scene on W 30th Ave,” she wrote.
Castro said on Tuesday that one victim was still in critical condition and the other two were stable.
Police said West 30th Avenue was closed between Spenard Road and Arctic Boulevard, where the shooting allegedly occurred.
A witness at the scene said he heard multiple shots fired by what sounded like an automatic weapon at the time of the shooting.
“It was reported to police that prior to the shooting there was a loud disturbance between two groups of people,” Castro wrote in an updated Nixle. “The altercation escalated into a shooting where multiple shots were fired.”
No suspect information has been released, but Castro said police had taken multiple witnesses into custody.
“No charges have been filed at this time as this investigation is in its early stages,” she said. :Additional information will be released as facts are confirmed in the case.”
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call APD at 786-8900 and press “0” to speak with dispatch.
