A grand jury handed down an indictment on Jan. 12 that connects a suspect in the David Grunwald homicide case to the alleged sexual assault of a minor that was filmed in the Valley in July 2016.
The jury indicted 22-year-old Jordan Santistevan on two charges for the July incident — second-degree sexual assault and second-degree sexual abuse of a minor. Devin Peterson, 18, was also listed on the indictment, facing a charge of unlawful exploitation of a minor.
According to charging documents in the case, Santistevan was allegedly seen in a video having sex with an underage female who appeared to be unconscious. She told investigators she had no recollection of the incident, which took place during a party at the Happy Camper RV Service and Repair Shop, located on Shenandoah Drive in Palmer.
The video was found on Dec. 7 on a cell phone that had been confiscated during the investigation into Grunwald’s disappearance and death, according to charging documents.
Initially, Peterson was charged in a separate case with six counts of possession of child pornography and one count of the distribution of indecent materials to minors, but charging documents against him listed only photos with .jpg extensions, not videos.
The indictment formally connects the two cases, and alleges that Peterson knowingly recorded the incident as a photograph, video or other medium.
The charging documents against Santistevan indicate there may have been others recording the assault, but so far, no additional suspects have been named in the case.
