Alaska State Troopers say a Chenega Bay man is dead and another man is in custody for his involvement in the death.
On Saturday, someone from the small town, located on an island east of Seward in southcentral Alaska, called Soldotna troopers to report they had found 42-year-old George Eleshansky dead in his home, AST spokesman Timothy DeSpain wrote in an online dispatch.
Troopers from Seward responded and secured the scene until Alaska Bureau of Investigation personnel arrived, DeSpain wrote.
Tazman Selanoff, 20, was arrested and charged with a single count of second-degree murder in the case. Troopers did not immediately provide information on the circumstances of the homicide or the two men’s relationship.
Selanoff is being held at the Seward Community Jail pending his arraignment on Tuesday, according to the dispatch. He is also scheduled to appear before a grand jury on Feb. 8.
Eleshansky’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, DeSpain confirmed in an email.
Officials have notified Eleshansky’s next of kin of his death.
