The Anchorage Police Department says it is investigating a shooting that occurred in West Anchorage Saturday morning. Officers are also asking for the public’s help in locating a man allegedly involved in the shooting.

The shooting was reported at 9:45 a.m. by residents in the area of Jewel Lake Road and Raspberry Road, according to police. The callers reported that people in two vehicles were shooting at each other.

“APD Patrol Officers responded and found one of the vehicles involved and three occupants of that vehicle,” a statement from police explained, adding that the second vehicle had fled the area before officers arrived.

Police stated that 27-year-old Jeramie Ghrames was likely the driver of the vehicle that fled, and had been arguing with three people in the other vehicle. At some point shots were exchanged, according to police. None of the other people involved have been identified by police, who were not immediately available to discuss the shooting.

Ghrames is driving a 1990s model baby blue pickup truck with rear bumper damage and a broken rear window, according to police. He is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs roughly 150 pounds.

Ghrames is on probation for robbery, according to police, and now faces additional charges, including two counts of third-degree assault and a single count of third-degree misconduct involving a weapon.

“If seen, please do not contact him yourself,” police wrote.

Anyone with information on Ghrames’ whereabouts or the shooting is asked to call police at 907-786-8900.

This is a developing story; please check back for updates as they become available.
