Anchorage police are investigating a Monday morning robbery at an east Anchorage Denny’s.
According to a release from the Anchorage Police Department, they were called to the restaurant at 7:59 a.m. Described by APD as two black men, the robbers ordered an employee to open the cash register and give them the money. One of them was visibly carrying a gun, police noted. Four customers were also robbed for money.
“At some point during the robbery, the suspect with the gun fired a single shot inside the restaurant which hit an empty seat,” police wrote in a release. “The suspects left in a 1997 Honda Civic which had been stolen sometime after 11 PM last night from the 1000 block of Boston Street.”
Police found the stolen vehicle, shortly before noon. It was abandoned, in the middle of Nichols Street, APD said.
The vehicle was not running or occupied when it was stolen. Its owner has been notified, but the vehicle was towed for evidence.
Between staff and customers, police said, there were 15 to 20 people inside of the restaurant during the robbery, but no one was injured.
Anyone with information is asked to call APD at 907-786-8900 or CrimeStoppers at 907-561-7867.
