A Juneau teenager was jailed in connection to broken windows and doors at multiple businesses, which amounted to roughly $8,700 in damage.
A Juneau police officer was flagged down around 8 a.m. on Saturday to investigate a broken window at the Alaskan Fudge Company, which is located on Franklin Street.
“A glass pane from the front door to the shop was shattered and part of it had fallen to the ground,” police said of the damage in a statement.
While checking the area, police said the officer found three other Franklin Street businesses with similar damage — Alaska Juneau Mining Company, Simply Natural and Invisible World. Further investigation revealed six businesses total had damaged glass windows and doors on Franklin Street, including the Amalga Distillery and Franklin Street Barbers.
Police determined the damage was “consistent with being hit by fire from a BB gun,” according to their statement.
While multiple persons of interest were identified in the case, police said they arrested 18-year-old Marco Shipley Pacheco, charging him with third-degree criminal mischief. He was booked at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
Police said their investigation into the incident is ongoing.
