Two citizens chased down a man who is now accused of driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to the Anchorage Police Department, law enforcement was dispatched to a vehicle crash at Dowling Road and Lake Otis Parkway at 4:13 p.m. APD was told a drunk driver was involved in the incident and tried to leave the scene.
When officers arrived, they said they discovered that Steven Holliday, 60, was traveling in a 1991 Chevy truck east on Dowling Road, police wrote in a Nixle. The agency said the truck was straddling two lanes, and rear ended two vehicles. The vehicles struck were stopped at a traffic light on Lake Otis and were pushed into the vehicles in front of them.
“Immediately after the collision, Holliday got out of his truck and began to run away from the scene with a bottle of alcohol in his hands,” APD said. ” One of the victim drivers, and another driver not involved in the crash, both exited their vehicles and chased down Holliday. Holliday did not resist once the two citizens caught him.”
Holliday was booked at the Anchorage Correctional Complex. He’s charged with felony DUI, refusing to submit a chemical test and reckless driving. Holliday is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon.
No one was transported to a hospital for injury.
