Anchorage police are looking for a vehicle seen in the area of a Mountain View shooting that injured a man and killed a local teenager.
Police spokeswoman Renee Oistad issued a statement Tuesday about two vehicles, saying they were seen in the area of Irwin Street and Peterkin Avenue on Friday when shots rang out among a number of pedestrians and at least one vehicle. Police say 17-year-old Leroy Lawrence was shot in the head and later died as a result of his wound, and a man was taken to a local hospital by friends after his leg was shot.
“The occupants of these vehicles may have information regarding the homicide,” Oistad wrote.
One of the vehicles is a 2007 silver Monte Carlo, pictured above. Oistad said it has a dent in the rear bumper on the driver’s side, tinted windows and “distinctive rims.” She said the license plate number is FDK570. Less than an hour after sending an alert about the vehicle, “alert citizens” found it unoccupied, Oistad said.
“Police are still looking for information regarding who may have been driving the car recently,” she added.
The second vehicle is a 2013 white Ford Escape with license plate number JCW942. An image of that vehicle’s make and model is included above, but is not the same vehicle seen by witnesses.
Anyone with information about the case or the vehicles is asked to call police at 907-786-8900. An anonymous tip can be submitted via Crime Stoppers online or by calling 907-561-7867.
