Police are looking for a 39-year-old man they say was involved in a shooting at a Jewel Lake gas station Monday evening.
According to the Anchorage Police Department, law enforcement responded to the Holiday Gas Station, at 8803 Jewel Lake Road, shortly after 9 p.m. in response to a report of a shot being fired.
When they arrived, APD said there were two unoccupied vehicles that had collided, but none of the occupants were still at the scene.
Witnesses told police, a white Ford truck collided with a parked Audi, and both drivers exited their vehicles.
“The Ford truck driver went to another occupied pickup that was in the parking lot, retrieved a gun, walked back over to the crash scene, and pointed the gun at the Audi’s driver while ordering him to the ground,” APD wrote in a release. “The Audi driver threw some type of metal object at the Ford driver; the Ford driver then fired a single shot at the Audi driver but missed. The Ford driver immediately left the scene as a passenger in the pickup he had retrieved the gun from. The Audi driver, and at least one passenger from his vehicle, left the scene on foot.”
APD said no one was injured. Authorities have identified the shooter as Dewey Eager, but were unable to contact him. There is now a warrant out for his arrest on weapons misconduct charges.
According to APD, Eager is a convicted felon, and not allowed to possess a hand gun. He’s described as being 5 feet and 11 inches tall, 220 pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes.
Police said they’d like to interview both drivers, and all of the occupants in the Audi and Ford. Anyone with information on their whereabouts, or on the incident, is urged to call APD at 907-786-8900.
