ANCHORAGE – A credit union was robbed Saturday, authorities said, marking the second bank robbed in a week.
According to witnesses, a man entered the Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, located on the 100 block of West Dimond Boulevard, Saturday at about 4:19 p.m. and demanded money from the teller, said police spokeswoman Anita Shell in a statement.
The teller did what the suspect said and the robber made away with an unknown amount of cash, Shell said. Witnesses weren’t sure if the suspect fled on foot or in a vehicle. No injuries occurred and no weapons were reported.
Several officers responded, Shell said, including canine units. As of Saturday evening, however, police had not located a suspect.
The suspect is described as a black male, about 25 to 30 years old, around five feet eight inches tall and with an average to slim build, Shell said.
On Tuesday, a man stole $1,600 from the Credit Union 1 branch located on Abbott Road. The suspect is still on the loose.
It’s not known at this time if the two robberies are related.
