A man threatened to blow up an Alaska Airlines plane during a flight bound for Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport Thursday night.
Ted Stevens Airport Police and Fire Chief Jesse Davis says Alaska Airlines Flight 755 landed in Anchorage between 11:30 p.m. and midnight Thursday and the pilot contacted air traffic control, alerting them to the need of officers upon landing.
The pilot reported a passenger on board said, “I’m going to shoot everyone on board and blow up the plane” while the plane taxied after landing, according to Chief Davis.
When the plane pulled up to the jetway, officers were waiting; several officers boarded the plane and took the man, sitting in row one of first class, into custody without incident.
A thorough search of the man and the aircraft was conducted, and Chief Davis says a weapon was not located.
The suspect, who has not yet been identified, was interviewed by the FBI. As of this writing, the FBI had not yet filed charges in connection to the case.
Flight 755 departed from Seattle. Alaska Airlines says there were 165 passengers and six crewmembers on board at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported.
