People in East Anchorage are shaken up after two shootings in two days off Muldoon Road. No one was hurt in either shooting, but there is plenty of damage to homes and an apartment complex.
The first happened early Monday morning on the 7800 block of Creekside Center Drive just before 4:30 a.m. The gunfire struck several mailboxes and the home of Sandra London.
“This is happening too much all over Anchorage Alaska,” she said. “We used to have a safe place to live and it’s like we’re in Detroit somewhere.”
One of the bullets struck the headboard in her bedroom. Luckily, she decided to sleep on the couch that night.
“My mind is just going back and forth about how blessed I am and how lucky I am to be here,” London added.
The second shooting happened early Tuesday morning just before 3 a.m. about a mile away on Muldoon Road in the 100 block of Grand Larry Street. Police found gunfire damage, bullets and shell casings around the building and surrounding area. No one was injured.
“I can’t have my children shot,” said Laura Sawyer, a mother who lives in the apartment complex. “We’re moving, we’re not staying here. We’re going to find some temporary shelter and a place to stay until we go and find another place to live because I’m not bringing my kids back to this apartment.”
No suspects or suspect descriptions have been released from police. There have been no arrests in connection to these shootings.
