Alaska State Troopers say an Elim man is behind bars, after he allegedly propositioned a local girl online in the Northwest Alaska village for “sexual favors.”
Herbert Barr Sr., 50, was charged with online enticement of a minor and distribution of child pornography, according to an online dispatch, after Nome troopers were told Monday that he “was asking the young teen for sexual favors.” Troopers spoke with him at his home Friday.
“An investigation showed that Barr knew the girl was 14 years old and was attempting to engage in sexual activity with her using the internet,” troopers wrote. “Barr was arrested and made admissions relating to the communication with the 14-year-old.”
No further details on the case were available Saturday from investigating troopers, spokeswoman Megan Peters said in an email.
Barr was taken to the Anvil Mountain Correctional Center, troopers said, where he was held without bail.
