ANCHORAGE - There may be an Alaska connection to the death of a 5-month-old baby in Oregon. The child is only being identified by the name of Rowdy.
Authorities near Portland recently found the baby’s body in a wooded area. KOIN TV in Portland reported that the child’s mother was staying at a motel with her boyfriend. The mother told two women at the motel her boyfriend suffocated the infant in their room, the station said.
Police have not charged anyone and names have not been released. Those women also said the mother told them the couple moved to Oregon from Alaska.
The women claim they drove the mother to the police department so she could tell officers what happened with the little boy.
“I was in the back seat crying the whole way there and all I wanted to do was go and get that baby,” Breana Butler told KOIN TV. “She said she drove the boyfriend to the park to go and throw the baby’s body in the park.”
Authorities in Oregon have not released any names and no one has been charged. Alaska State Troopers were asked about the case, but they said they can’t comment.
