A former care technician at Providence Alaska Medical Center will spend more than a decade in prison after he sexually abused two young patients in his care.
Allen Kelly Miller, 29, pleaded guilty to a single charge of attempted sexual assault in February. Monday, a judge sentenced him to 15 years in prison with three years suspended.
Prosecutors say they wanted a longer sentence. In 2013, Miller molested a 17-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl. Providence fired him a day after his arrest, but one victim’s family has filed a lawsuit against the hospital.
In his former role, Miller was responsible for caring for kids in the hospital’s pediatric unit.
