No injuries were reported following a drive-by shooting near Arctic Boulevard and 47th Avenue early Sunday morning, according to the Anchorage Police Department.
In a written statement released Monday morning, APD said the shooting took place around 3 a.m., when a bus operated by Anchorage Limo and Sedan was fired on by multiple people and hit by 10 rounds. Police said there were 17 people aboard at the time of the shooting, and a witness later told officers the group had been at Al’s Alaskan Inn for several hours prior to the shooting.
When officers finally made contact with the bus’s driver in the parking lot of Wendler Middle School, they learned all but one of the passengers had fled once the bus came to a stop following the shooting. The sole remaining passenger told police she wasn’t aware of any disputes that may have happened at Al’s Alaska Inn, or why anyone would shoot at the bus, according to APD.
When police briefly closed the streets around 47th Avenue and Arctic Boulevard, though, they said they discovered more than 30 shell casings from four different guns.
“There was a mention of three vehicles surrounding the bus when the shots were fired, but it is unknown if all three were involved in the actual shooting,” an APD spokeswoman wrote in a statement.
No arrests have been made in connection with shooting as of Monday morning, police said: The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information on the incident is asked to call APD at 786-8900.
