A 21-year-old man was stabbed following a fight near 3rd Avenue and Karluk Street early Thursday morning, according to the Anchorage Police Department.
In a written release, APD said officers were called to the area near Bean’s Cafe, Brother Francis Shelter and the Anchorage Jail around 12:20 a.m. following a disturbance involving several people. Witnesses told police the 21-year-old and a woman had been involved in a physical fight when another man intervened, stabbing the first man in the lower back with a knife, APD said.
The injured man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, police said, and the man who stabbed him has yet to be located. An APD spokeswoman said the investigation is ongoing, and no details were immediately available on the cause of the fight or whether the people involved knew each other.
