An Anchorage teenager is facing manslaughter and DUI charges for the suspected hit-and-run that killed a bicyclist in July.

Alexandra Ellis, 17, is being held responsible for the death of Jeffery Dusenbury. The 51-year-old cyclist was riding his bike in South Anchorage the morning of July 19 when he was struck by a black Chevy truck speeding in reverse, police say. According to court documents, Ellis was also driving under the influence.

Despite help from a good Samaritan, Dusenbury passed away at a local hospital. Because Ellis is accused of fleeing the scene of an accident, the District Attorney’s office also decided to include the felony charge of failing to render assistance to an injured person after an accident.

Ellis is scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon.

Dusenbury is one of three people hit and killed while bicycling in Anchorage this year.
