The Anchorage Police Department renewed their request to parents Friday night to talk with children who have used the West or East High School swimming pools in the last few years.

Jonathan Daniel Sabet, 22, started working for the municipality as a lifeguard in 2010. The city says he worked at the East High pool; his Facebook page says he worked at the West High pool.

“We are wanting to know from parents who may have had their children in swim lessons or have been at the pool with Mr. Sabet that have had contact with him,” said Lt. Nancy Reeder of the Alaska Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).

Reeder suggests parents approach the conversation carefully.

“It goes back to what we talk to our kids about for many years,” she explained. “Good touch, bad touch. In the swimming classes, did anybody touch you? Did any of the lifeguards touch you?” explained Reeder.

Police request that parents don’t question the children too much and put ideas in their head, because it could hamper an investigation.

Reeder also says parents need to be on the lookout for any behavioral changes. Should parents have any fears, Reeder encourages them to call police.
