Alaska State Troopers are searching for two males who claimed to be police officers when they approached a teenager near a Kodiak beach and demanded he identify himself Saturday night.
The males covered their faces with ski masks and wore black, according to AST dispatch. When they told a 17-year-old male near Mill Bay Beach they were police officers, the teenager questioned their claim and one of the males brandished a pistol and fired it into the air.
Both troopers and the Kodiak Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at the beach just after 11:45 p.m., according to AST dispatch. The 17-year-old was uninjured in the encounter, and troopers said the two subjects had fled the scene by the time law enforcement officers arrived.
AST said evidence was gathered and the investigation is ongoing; anyone with information can contact troopers at 907-486-4121 or leave an anonymous tip via Crime Stoppers at 907-486-3113.
