A former Alaskan and her husband have pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the stabbing death of a man they say they lured with a Craigslist ad.
Miranda and Elytte Barbour, dubbed the “Craigslist Killers,” were on trial for the November 2013 stabbing death of a 42-year-old Pennsylvania man they told authorities they baited with an ad offering sex.
Barbour, whose school records show she attended Colony Middle and High Schools in Palmer, claimed to be a member of a satanic cult. In a jailhouse interview, she also said she had murdered at least 22 people, though authorities, including the Alaska State Troopers, say they have found no evidence to substantiate those claims.
In addition to murder charges, the Barbours also agreed to plead guilty to aggravated assault, robbery and possession of an instrument in crime in exchange for life sentences in prison in lieu of the death penalty, WNEP reported. The couple is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 18.
