Original story

ANCHORAGE – A baby is safe and an adult male was taken into custody by Anchorage police Thursday night after a four-hour standoff in a Downtown apartment building.

“We received a call just after 8 p.m. reporting that a male was threatening [with a gun] a female inside of a unit complex,” said Jennifer Castro, Communications Director with the Anchorage Police Department.

Castro said when police arrived on the scene the female escaped the apartment but the male barricaded himself inside. The baby was also still in the apartment.

The apartment complex, located in the 800 block of West 11th Avenue, was not evacuated but police told residents to stay inside their apartments.

Just after midnight on Friday,  APD said the male was in custody and no one was injured.
