A military trial will begin next week for a Fort Wainwright soldier charged in the April 3 death of his 3-year-old son.
Sgt. Nathaniel E. Ulroan, 24, will be tried at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state beginning Monday. His son was found dead at the soldier’s Fairbanks home on base.
Ulroan, who previously lived in Chevak, is also charged with other crimes involving alleged abuse of his wife during their marriage and on the night of April 3, according to a statement from the U.S. Army Alaska. The charges include kidnapping, rape, assault and communicating a threat.
Ulroan is in pretrial confinement at JBLM. He joined the Army in October 2008 and was stationed at JBLM before being assigned to Fort Wainwright as a combat engineer in December 2012.
