The stabbing suspect has been identified as Rudy Thomas Jr., 21, according to police. He has been charged with one count of second-degree assault and seven counts of third-degree assault.

ANCHORAGE – A man was stabbed in the head in downtown Anchorage Tuesday evening, police said.
Anchorage police received a call shortly before 9 p.m. reporting that a knife-wielding man near the Westmark Hotel was threatening citizens, according to a statement from police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro.
Police were able to find the suspect on the 400 block of G Street and take him into custody. The victim was examined by medics and appears to have non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Official charges haven’t been made but are expected, the statement said.
Alcohol may have been a factor, according to witnesses. They said the suspect was panhandling aggressively when he injured the man.
