Original story

ANCHORAGE – A man was stabbed in the head in downtown Anchorage Tuesday evening, police said.

Anchorage police received a call shortly before 9 p.m. reporting that a knife-wielding man near the Westmark Hotel was threatening citizens, according to a statement from police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro.

Police were able to find the suspect on the 400 block of G Street and take him into custody. The victim was examined by medics and appears to have non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Official charges haven’t been made but are expected, the statement said.

Alcohol may have been a factor, according to witnesses. They said the suspect was panhandling aggressively when he injured the man.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
