The man suspected of robbing a bank in Juneau was arrested as he tried to fly out of the city, police say.

On Friday at about 11:15 a.m., the Juneau Police Department received reports from the Northrim Bank, located in the 8700 block of Glacier Highway, that a robbery had just taken place.

Investigation revealed that a male, who claimed to have an explosive device on him, entered the bank and left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to a release from JPD.

Fourteen JPD officers and two FBI agents responded to the incident. The suspect’s image was captured on security cameras. Police say no one was hurt during the robbery.

Police put out an information release, along with photos of the man, asking for the public’s help in finding him.

On Saturday, at about 12:14 p.m., JPD was notified of a “suspicious male was attempting to fly out of Juneau.” The man has been identified as 52-year-old Larry Randolph Powell, of Bay Minette, Alabama. Police say Powell matched the description of the person who robbed Northrim Bank. He also had an undisclosed amount of cash on him.

After further investigation, police arrested Powell for first-degree robbery, second-degree theft and terroristic threats.
