An outdoor residential fire in Palmer on Friday was connected to a methamphetamine lab, according to Alaska State Troopers.
The Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit-MatSu responded to the fire on Gurn Circle at 12:30 p.m. Friday, along with several other agencies, according to an online trooper dispatch. A fully functional red phosphorous meth lab was found at the residence by investigators.
The owner of the home, 33-year-old Michael Wellman Jr, was arrested and charged with five counts of second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and three counts of fourth-degree possession of controlled substances. He was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-trial Facility and held on a $25,000 cash-only bail.
Arrangements were made through the Drug Enforcement Administration for the disposal of hazardous materials found at the residence, according to troopers. No injuries were reported.
