Police say a young adult male suffered a severe stab wound to his face early Sunday morning after an altercation in downtown Anchorage.
Around 2:40 a.m. the Anchorage Police Department received a report of a possible stabbing near Seventh Avenue and D Street. It was reported to police that a group of males got into a physical altercation with another male and fled the scene in a black sedan, an APD release says.
When police and medics arrived at the scene, they found a male with “a giant laceration to his face.” He was transported to a local hospital.
Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle near Ninth Avenue and D Street, where officers took the occupants of the vehicle into custody.
After a preliminary investigation, 28-year-old Anthony Faafetai Pereira was arrested and charged with third- and-fourth-degree assault and was taken to the Anchorage Jail.
Police say this incident is an ongoing investigation.
