Juneau police are asking for the public’s help in finding a masked thief who recently broke into a downtown liquor store and made off with $3,600 in cigarettes.
Officers responded to an alarm at Thibodeau’s Home Liquor in Juneau around 1:16 a.m. on Aug. 31.
After watching surveillance video, according to a release from the Juneau Crimeline, police discovered that a person wearing a mask and light-colored Under Armor sweatshirt with a green hood had smashed a window using a rock and gained entry into the store.
The surveillance video shows the thief unsuccessfully attempting to break into two different cash registers before eventually making off with a box of American Spirit cigarettes valued at $3,600.
Police report that the person also had “dark hair, several inches long in the front” and was wearing “skater shoes and blue jeans.”
