ANCHORAGE – A man found staggering down a Wasilla road early Sunday morning was arrested on a variety of charges after allegedly assaulting a trooper then fleeing on foot.
According to Alaska State Troopers, 42-year-old Garret Cooper was found wandering down the center of Williwaw Way shortly before 12:30 a.m. When the responding trooper tried to arrest Cooper on an outstanding warrant, AST said Cooper attacked the trooper and ran. He was caught and arrested after a brief chase, and troopers said he was found to be carrying “numerous types of narcotics.”
Cooper was treated for Taser exposure and other injuries at Matsu Regional Medical Center, and charged with fourth, fifth and sixth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, fourth-degree assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
