ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – Alaska State Troopers arrested a 29-year-old Manokotak man who is accused of striking a village police officer.
Troopers say Garrett Kashatok was arrested by the Village Public Safety Officer Sunday on charges of assault on a peace officer, disorderly conduct, endangering the welfare of a child and possessing alcohol in a dry community.
Court documents say Kashatok is charged with misdemeanor assault. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
Troopers say the VPSO responded to a disturbance at Kashatok’s home, where there were several children. According to troopers, Kashatok was intoxicated.
Troopers say that while he was being detained, Kashatok struck the village police officer, who also was helping at the scene.
Kashatok was taken to the village holding facility.
