APD responded to a call around 11:40 p.m. Monday, reporting a man, identified as 30-year-old Aaron Syvinski, had been shot inside an apartment on the 1500 block of Charter Circle, according to a release from police. Officers and ambulance crews arrived to the location, across from Merrill Field Airport, and Syvinski was taken to a local hospital, where he died just before 12:20 a.m.
The APD crime scene team and detectives were on the scene early Tuesday morning interviewing witnesses to piece together the events that led to the shooting. A later release said APD’s preliminary investigation found Syvinski had an altercation with another person in the apartment, and was shot by that person. APD said no charges or arrests have been made at this time.
Syvinski’s next of kin have been notified.
