A 59-year-old man has been arrested after it was found he was in possession of child pornography, according to an online Alaska State Trooper dispatch.
On March 22, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted the Alaska Bureau of Investigation to possible distribution of “an image depicting child sexual exploitation” by a suspect in the Wasilla area, troopers said.
Following a brief investigation, ABI’s Technical/Financial Crimes Unit arrested Thomas Jacobs at his home near Wasilla.
“Additional evidence was seized, corroborating the initial report,” troopers said.
Jacobs currently faces a single count of possession of child pornography and is being held under a $5,000 bail with a third-party custodian requirement.
Jacobs has a previous conviction of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, stemming from a 1994 case out of Palmer. Part of his sentencing requirements in that case mandated he register as a sex offender.
