Police have located the vehicle involved in an early morning hit and run. The driver hit a man and left him lying in the road with severe injuries, according to police.
The man was first spotted lying in the road on Boniface Parkway, near Perry Drive, around 5 a.m. Emergency personnel and police responded to the scene and found the man — identified only as a 24-year-old male active-duty service member — had multiple severe injuries, including one to his head.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital and listed in critical condition.
Due to his ongoing medical treatment, police said they were unable to speak with him about the collision. However, through their own investigation of the scene — which they said had pieces of vehicle debris and tire markings — they found the vehicle that struck the man was likely missing its driver-side mirror. They believe the vehicle was traveling southbound on Boniface at the time of the crash.
Later Saturday evening, police found the vehicle they claim was involved. Police have so far not made any arrests as they continue their investigations into the circumstances leading up to the crash.
