The victim of a shooting Saturday night has not been forthcoming with details of the attack against her, police say.

Police first responded to the shooting just before 11 p.m. They found a 27-year-old woman lying in a backyard on the 200 block of Hoyt Street. She had a single gunshot wound to her leg, which police said was considered non-life threatening.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries, but would not tell police what happened, according to a statement from police spokeswoman Renee Oistad.

“Police made contact with people who heard the shot but no witnesses were located who had actually seen the shooting take place,” Oistad said.

No arrests have been made in the case, although someone at the scene was briefly taken into custody for a non-extraditable warrant, then released, Oistad said. He is not being considered a suspect and no one else has been identified as a suspect in the case, according to Oistad.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Anchorage police at 786-8900. An anonymous tip can be given through Anchorage CrimeStoppers by calling 561-STOP or online.
