A 25-year-old Anchorage man has been charged with attempted murder of an Alaska State Trooper, as well as several other charges, after an early-May saga of alleged criminal activity.
According to the Alaska Department of Law, on May 1 a Ship Creek business owner notified police of two men breaking into his business. When the men were confronted, one pulled out a gun and then the two fled.
Through video footage, police were able to determine one of the men was David Ekeroma Fatialofa. Three days later, on May 4, Fatialofa was spotted driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse in East Anchorage.
Despite police efforts, Fatialofa escaped, the Department of Law wrote.
The following day, police continued to look for Fatialofa, and found a stolen Honda Civic, which they installed a tracking device on. On May 6, the Safe Streets Task Force used the tracker and followed him into the Spenard area.
A trooper assigned to the unit drove through an ally to look for a vehicle and Fatialofa fire shots at the trooper’s vehicle. The accused then drove off and led officers on a chase before abandoning the vehicle.
Nineteen-year-old Raihana Zayyan Hansen drove a separate vehicle and picked up Fatialofa in a trailer park near Bragaw Street, the release states.
Police successfully disabled the vehicle and took Fatialofa into custody, after he again tried to flee.
Fatialofa has been charged with first-degree attempted murder, burglary, vehicle theft and failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer.
Hansen has been charged with hindering prosecution.
