The victim of an early morning shooting along Minnesota Drive is in critical condition, police say. The suspect was still at large as of 10 a.m.
Police responded to the intersection of Minnesota Drive and Northern Lights Boulevard at 3:09 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting, according to a police. A 30-year-old man was found on the sidewalk near the Carrs Aurora Village parking lot with a gunshot wound to the head.
An initial statement from the Anchorage Police Department said two pedestrians were walking on the sidewalk in the area “when they got into some type of altercation with a third party,” police wrote. The male victim was one of the pedestrians and was shot during the altercation, police said.
The male victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and was listed in critical condition, APD wrote.
Police stated they believe the suspect is a man, but would not give any more description.
“Interviews are still being conducted,” they wrote. “No arrests have been made.”

The southbound lanes of Minnesota Drive were shut down while police investigated the scene of the shooting. The road has since reopened.
