On Saturday night, Alaska State Troopers arrested a Wasilla woman after she allegedly hit a Palmer home with her van twice, all while five children were in the vehicle without seat belts.
Alaska State Troopers went to investigate the crash at a home on the Old Glenn Highway around 10 p.m., according to an online dispatch. A woman, later identified as 47-year-old Lisa Stewart, fled the scene when they arrived, but was found a short time later, “lying down in the woods a short distance from the house,” troopers wrote.
The destruction of the crash included the home being knocked off its foundation, as well as damage to items within the residence.
Troopers arrested her and charged her with six counts of third-degree assault, and one count each of third-degree criminal mischief and reckless driving. She was taken to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and arraigned Sunday.
Alaska State Troopers have not responded to KTVA’s emails requesting further information, including the condition of the five children in the crash.
