A man was arrested after he stabbed his father and fled the scene on a bicycle, according to the Anchorage Police Department (APD).

Just after 1 a.m. Monday, a man called police and said he was in a fight with his son, identified as 20-year-old Eyob Imlach. According to an APD release, the man told the dispatcher he didn’t think Imlach would harm him.

Eight minutes later, the man told police he had been stabbed by his son.

Officers responded to the 2100 block of Tributary Circle and the victim was taken to a hospital. The man had two stab wounds to his leg and torso, neither of which were life-threatening, according to the statement from police. Imlach had left the scene on a bicycle, APD stated.

Two hours later, Anchorage police received a call from someone who knew Imlach and stated the 20-year-old had shown up to his house. The caller stated he thought Imlach was intoxicated and that he did not allow the man inside. When officers arrived, they saw a bicycle outside the house which the caller said was not his.

The resident gave permission for police to search the property and they found Imlach sleeping inside a shed in the yard. Imlach was arrested on the warrant and transported to the Anchorage Correctional Complex.
